    What Is Ad Revenue?

Ad revenue is the total revenue generated from your website’s display advertising. Whether you’re being paid per click (CPC) or per thousand impressions (CPM), ad revenue is calculated by taking the sum total of the revenue generated by all the ads on your website or page within a given time frame.

Ad revenue doesn’t include revenue your website or page generates from other sources, such as affiliate commissions or direct sales.

What Is a Website Ad Revenue Calculator?

A website ad revenue calculator estimates how much your website could earn from ads given a certain amount of traffic.

For the sake of simplicity, say your website receives 100,000 ad impressions in a month, and you know that your ad network pays you $5 for every 1,000 impressions, then this would give you an ad revenue of $500.

In practice, however, calculating ad revenue is a lot more complex than this, as there are several other variables that come into play.

For instance, if you use header bidding or ad refresh, then your ad revenue is likely to be greater than that of a publisher who doesn’t. The number of ad units you have per page, your ad placement, and traffic sources are also important factors that need to be considered.

The more variables you factor into your calculation, the more refined the calculation becomes, and the more accurate your revenue estimates are likely to be.

AdOpsOne’s ad revenue calculator takes into account all these factors when calculating ad revenue for a page, thereby giving you a highly accurate estimate of your website’s revenue.

How Can I Calculate Website Ad Revenue?

To calculate your website’s ad revenue using AdOpsOne’s calculator, you will need to enter the following information as the input:

    1. Ad server: From the dropdown menu, select how you serve ads on your website. The calculator gives you three options to choose from—Google Ad Manager (GAM), Hardcoded AdSense, and Other Ad Server.
    2. Ad impressions: Enter your monthly ad impressions in millions, without the zeros. For instance, if you receive 1,260,000 monthly impressions, enter 1.3. If you receive 100,000 monthly impressions, enter 0.1.
    3. Monthly indirect revenue: Enter your monthly indirect revenue in dollars. For instance, if your monthly indirect revenue is $10,000, enter 10,000 in the box.
    4. Page views: Enter the number of views your website receives per month in millions. If your page receives 1,00,000 page views a month, enter 1 in the box.
    5. Available ad units: Enter the average number of ad units you have on every page.
    6. Impressions from the US, UK, and EU: Enter, in percentages, the share of your website traffic from these three geographies combined. For instance, if you receive 60% of your traffic from these three locations put together, enter 60 in the space provided.
    7. Primary source of traffic: Pick one of four traffic source options—social, search, direct, and referral—from the dropdown menu. Just be sure to pick the source that drives the most traffic to your site.
    8. Mention whether you’re using header bidding: Header bidding has the potential to drive additional revenue from display ads by ramping up the competition for each unit. This is why we ask you to disclose whether you’re using header bidding or not.
    9. Mention whether you’re using ad refresh: Ad refresh increases user engagement and can generate more ad revenue than static ads. So, if you’re using ad refresh, we’d like to know in order to arrive at a more accurate estimate of your ad revenue.
    10. Impressions from AMP: If you receive traffic to your website from accelerated mobile pages (AMP), mention the percentage of traffic in this field. For instance, if AMPs are responsible for 20% of the traffic to your website, write 20 in the box provided.

    And that’s it!

Once you’ve filled out all the fields, click Calculate and our calculator will provide you with an accurate estimate of how much your site is currently making and how much you can expect it to grow by once you join AdOpsOne.

Increase Your Website Ad Revenue With AdOpsOne

Ad ops are complex and publishers often find themselves saddled with the unenviable task of trying to create great content while also juggling the nitty-gritty of ad revenue optimization.

If you’re concerned about decreasing website revenue, you’ll need more than just a good website revenue calculator to address the issue. While our website ad revenue estimator will give you an accurate estimate of how much revenue your website’s ads are generating and how much more they could be earning, it can’t tell you why revenue is falling right now or suggest an action plan.

AdOpsOne’s Genie is an AI-powered engine that is designed to solve this very problem. Genie draws insights from a publisher’s Google Ad Manager (GAM), Google Analytics (GA), Google AdSense, and other monetization partners to deliver insights into what isn’t working and how to fix it.
